If you ever get a chance to visit Greece, then Karpenisi should always be on top of your list. It is an awesome town located in the heart of Greece. This fabulous valley and the surrounding area has a lot of things to offer to the tourists and is one of the most famous tourist destinations of the world.

It offers a range of activities for both summer and winter seasons. Moreover, the locals at are very welcoming to the tourist and are known for their great hospitality.

Things to do in Karpenisi

The scene of the valley from the Tripa of Agrafiotis near Agrafa village is an absolute jaw dropper. The historic Templa Bridge is another sight to watch as it is surrounded with heart melting beauty. River Acheloos is also a spot in the town which shouldn’t be missed at all.


If mountaineering is what you are looking for, then Tymfristos is a great option. Tymfristos is the best spot for mountaineers and they can buy/ rent all mountaineering equipment at an affordable cost.

Sports activities in the town

If you are into sports stuff then seize your opportunity for being in the town as it offers a lot of sports activities for the tourists. The Acheloos, Trikeriotis and the Tavropos rivers can be well enjoyed for Rafting. The adventure in the Canyon swing should never be missed if you are in Karpenisi. If you are in the town in winter, then Skiing is the best thing to do. Skiing is fun and thrill at the same time. Horse riding and aerial crossings are other adventurous activities that can make your tour very enjoyable.

Night life

Karpenisi is a town which never sleeps. People love to stay out late, provided if the weather is pleasant. The town has several bars, discotheques, and restaurants which are jam packed especially during the weekends. The grilled meat and the succulent sausages are the specialty of town. Further, Italian food is also very famous here and should be tried at least one to check the Greek style of cooking the Italian dishes.

Museums, churches and cathedrals

History and religion are very closely bonded with the city. It is a historic place and you will find several beautiful churches and cathedrals. There are a couple of museums as well in the city which will take you to the Roman and Ottoman Empire era. The museums also have got a lot about some memorable things related to World War II.


Bonfire is probably the best activity that you can do in Karpenisi during the night time. You can enjoy more if you are a large group of friends. It is an activity which you can only enjoy at a hill station like Karpenisi. Snacks and drinks can make your time even more memorable and enjoyable.

Hiring a local guide is not a bad idea if you want to make the most of your time in Karpenisi. They are affordable and can tell you a lot about the ‘things to do’ in the town. They can be hired for a full day or for a number of days depending on your budget and your stay in the town. Most of the professional guides do have some special deals for a lot of activities that you can do in Karpenisi.

They sell cheap tickets and also avoid you standing in a queue for buying the tickets as the town can get really busy during the peak season which is from April to August.
